Overview of Notes
After every session, if your client consents to transcription, Allia automatically creates a draft note based on your preferences.
A note is not part of your client’s record until you’ve reviewed and saved it.
Allia is fully HIPAA-compliant and built to meet the highest standards of healthcare data protection. Every note you create or edit in Allia is encrypted, stored securely, and accessible only to you.
How to View and Navigate Client Notes

To get started, go to your Client Dashboard and select the client you’d like to document for. From there, click the Notes tab. You’ll see a list of past notes, and you can either open an existing one or create a new note from scratch. You can also export any note as a PDF if needed.
How Auto-Generated Notes Work
Every time you complete a session using Allia, the platform will automatically generate a progress note based on the session transcript and other available data—like past sessions, MBC scores, and wearable data if you’re using those features.

You’ll find the note in the Notes tab about 15 minutes after the session ends. You can review and edit it just like any other document. Click Save when you’re done, or export the note if you need to share it externally.
The goal here isn’t to replace your judgment—it’s to take care of the busywork so you can focus on what matters.
How to Customize Your Documentation Style
Every therapist has a different documentation style. You can personalize how Allia generates your notes by adjusting your preferences in the Notes tab. Just click the preferences slider on the right-hand side of the page.

Here’s what you can control:
Your preferred note format (like SOAP)
How you refer to yourself and your client
How much detail you want in your notes
Whether you want direct quotes included from the session
Your preferences will automatically apply to all future notes. You can update them anytime.
How to Create and Edit Your Own Notes
You can always write your own note from scratch. Just click Create in the Notes tab to open a clean word-processing window. This is great for process notes, interim updates, or if you have your own template you prefer to use.
You can save your note as a draft or mark it as complete when you’re ready. All notes are stored securely in your Allia dashboard, where you can access and edit them anytime.
Adding Generative Content to Notes

While editing an auto-generating note or starting your own, you can use generative prompts to instantly add rich contextual content to your documentation.
Generative prompts are grouped into three categories of insights:
Generate new ideas and directions for care
Analyze patterns in client behavior and response
Summarize clinical data and records
To use a prompt in your note:
Make sure your cursor is in the location where you would like to place your generative content. It is best to start on a blank line.
type “/” (forward slash) to display the prompt menu.
Choose a prompt from the list.
Allia will begin automatically generating content. Once the content has been added, Allia will format the new text to fit in with the rest of the note.
You can also insert a blank note template using the “/” command.
For even more generative tools, head to Allia’s Insights page.
